Dallas Marathon 2022

Metro Anesthesia has a long running history of sponsoring relay teams in the Dallas Marathon. This year we had 4 coed teams of 5 runners each and 3 individual runners, all from within metro anesthesia. The winning coed team, ‘Double Burst Stimulation,’ was comprised Dr Miller, Dr Akaluso, Dr Kim, Dr Boehmer, and Dr Germany. They took home the ‘Sleep With the Best” Trophy, which will spend the year with the winning team until being turned over to next year’s winners. This win was extra special, since Dr Germany was the original organizer of the marathon for metro anesthesia.

After the marathon, runner’s families met at Katy Trail Ice House for burgers and ice cold refreshments, an annual post race tradition. The year prior we had a bit of excitement after burgers- one of our runners passed out from exhaustion. Don’t worry, there were plenty of doctors around, and he was ok after some OJ. The competition is intense!

Next year, the event will become a fundraiser for Metro Heals, and will include mile time pledges, jerseys, and sponsors. Surgeons, nurses, techs, and hospital staff will be invited to participate. More information will be posted as we get closer to next year’s marathon.
